Holding Companies to their Health Care Promises

Congressman Tierney continued to be concerned about and outraged by companies that reduce the terms of retirees’ health coverage by increasing premiums, co-payments, and deductibles, all of which results in a gradual elimination of employer-sponsored benefits.

In response Congressman Tierney developed the Emergency Retiree Health Benefits Protection Act (HR. 1322), which would prohibit profitable companies from curtailing or eliminating benefits under their retiree health plans after a worker retires. The bill has more than 50 co-sponsors.
