Congressman Tierney has supported legislation that repealed billions in subsidies to profitable oil companies and reinvested those funds in clean, renewable energy and energy efficiency. Specifically, this legislation created a “Strategic Energy Efficiency and Renewables Reserve” to be used to pay for the cost of accelerating the use of clean domestic renewable energy resources and alternative fuels and increasing research, development and deployment of clean renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies.Congressman Tierney believes this legislation will help create jobs, bolster development of renewable energy resources and alternative fuels, promote new energy technologies, develop greater efficiency and improve energy conservation.

Believing it essential to equip our country to compete in the global economy, Congressman Tierney was also proud to support the House Democratic Leadership's "Innovation Agenda." This ambitious legislative agenda was comprised of measures that will, among other things, add thousands of qualified math and science teachers in our nation's elementary and secondary schools, provide support for young researchers to foster ground-breaking early stage research and make capital more accessible for small businesses, which are often catalysts for technological innovation.
