Congressman Tierney believes one of the most important and sensible steps we can take to reduce our dependence on foreign oil is to raise federal fuel economy standards for cars and trucks. He supports legislation that, among other things, requires cars and trucks to achieve an average fleet-wide fuel economy of 27.5 miles per gallon by model year 2012 and 35 miles per gallon by model year 2018.
