Congressman Tierney believes that we must promote responsible budget policies. That is why he supported the House Democrats’ legislation (H.Res.6) to reinstitute the Pay-As-You-Go (pay-go) policy that was so instrumental in successfully erasing budget deficits in the 1990’s during the Clinton Administration. Under pay-go, all increases in federal spending as well as tax cuts must be offset, meaning that they must be paid for at the time they are enacted. Pay-go is a proven federal spending system under which we pay our bills today instead of increasing the debts that will have to be paid back tomorrow.
