| Tierney to Host "Academy Night 2007" |

Tuesday September 18, 2007 Peabody, MA – U.S. Congressman John F. Tierney (D-MA) invites all high school students in Massachusetts’s Sixth Congressional District, who have an interest in learning more about the admissions process for one of the nation’s service academies, to attend Academy Night 2007 on Thursday September 27th from 7 - 9pm in the Health Professions Building, Room F119 on the Danvers Campus of North Shore Community College. Representatives from the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, the U.S. Military Academy and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy will all be in attendance to speak with prospective students. Additionally, representatives from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, Maine Maritime Academy, Massachusetts Maritime Academy and Norwich University will also be available to speak with potential applicants. Students who wish to attend the U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Military Academy or the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy must send a completed application packet to Congressman Tierney’s Peabody district office by November 1st. During November, Congressman Tierney's Academy Review Board will evaluate each application; conduct interviews and make recommendations for names to be submitted for nomination to the respective academies in December. In order to be considered eligible, all applicants must be citizens of the United States, legal residents of the 6th District of Massachusetts, unmarried with no children and at least 17 years of age but no older than 23 as of July 1, 2007.
