Tierney to Host "Academy Night 2011"

Danvers, MA—On Tuesday, September 20, at 7 p.m., Congressman John F. Tierney (D-MA) invites all high school students in Massachusetts's Sixth Congressional District who have an interest in learning more about the admissions process for one of the nation's service academies, to attend Academy Night 2011 on the Danvers Campus of North Shore Community College.

Students who wish to attend the U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Military Academy or the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy must send a completed application packet to Congressman Tierney's Peabody district office by November 1st. During November, Congressman Tierney's Academy Review Board will evaluate each application; conduct interviews and make recommendations for names to be submitted for nomination to the respective academies in December. In order to be considered eligible, all applicants must be citizens of the United States, legal residents of the 6th District of Massachusetts, unmarried with no children and at least 17 years of age but no older than 23 as of July 1, 2012.
